Romanian Agricola Group aims a 5% increase in turnover for 2020

Romanian meat producer Agricola Group has ended 2019 with an 8% increase in turnover compared with the previous year, according to a press release from the company. The achievement was possible thanks to increased sales of premium products in poultry and dry-cured salami. The total turnover of the Group was RON 768.2 million (€162 million), with Agricola International Bac?u, a poultry subsidiary of the Group, taking the lead in turnover with RON 501 million (€105 million), 8% higher than the results from 2018. "This is the result of an improved execution in operation, with increases in the sale of differentiating products and higher value-added products, which led to an appreciation of the average price for our products, increases sustained by a strong brand and proper communication. I would like to mention that at the end of last year we completed a comprehensive process of repositioning the brand and, as a result of consumer research, we redesigned Agricola's brand image in all the forms in which it manifests itself," mentioned the president of the Group, Mr. Grigore Horoi.
A 7% increase in turnover was obtained by Salbac, the Group's arm in salami business, who reached the value of RON 143 million (€30 million) despite the rising price of raw material used for dry-cured products generated by the ongoing ASF crisis in Europe and Asia. Europrod, the Group subsidiary specialized in ready-meal and ready-to-cook products, reported sales 9% higher in value and 3% up in volume than in 2018. 32% of the production is exported, according to Mr. Horoi. Last but not least, Avicola Lumina, an egg producer owned by Agricola Group, maintained a turnover of RON 50.3 million (€10.5 million) with a volume of 80 million eggs shipped in the market.
For this year, the president of Agricola Group foresees a 5% increase in turnover and announced an investment of €17 million in expanding slaughter capacity by 70%.
