Spanish poultry producer hit by COVID-19 infections
Production operations in the Avicola de Galicia production plant in Cambados have been reduced at 40% to ensure distancing measures among workers, after 50 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed as positive. This pushes the total number of infected employees to 96, most of them been reported as being asymptomatic or present very mild cases.
The company highlights that the health of professionals has always been prioritized over commercial operations, and the drastic reduction in production shows this. Another shutdown was in mid-summer when the plant was closed for a couple of weeks, until August 17, for disinfection. Another plant owned by the company in Campano is 100% operational, with no signs of infection so far. Avicola de Galicia is a subsidiary of the Vall Companys Group.
