Uruguay exported 290,000 live cattle until October
With two months left to close 2024, the total for the year could exceed 300 thousand heads exported in all of 2023 and become the year with the highest movement since 2018, when 417,547 heads were shipped.
Recently, the quarantine period for a new shipment to Türkiye, the destination of 96% of the cattle exported this year, is being closed.
The average weight of cattle exported this year is 302 kilos, higher than last year's 284 kilos due to the diversification of categories.
In addition to whole calves, which continue to be the vast majority, this year there was also a demand for Angus heifers, as well as steers weighing between 380 and 500 kilos.
Until September, the average price per kilo was US$ 2.84 according to INAC data, slightly below the US$ 2.88 per kilo in 2023.
