Vion increases its stake in hide company

BestHides is a globally active supplier of chilled and wet salted hides and wet salted calfskins from north, central and south Germany. In 1980 BestHides was an original start-up of Vion.

Since 2014, BestHides is jointly owned by Vion and Darling Ingredients Inc., of which Vion has acquired 20% of the shares.

Today Vion is the biggest supplier of BestHides located in Eching and Memmingen. “Vion valorises all parts of the animal in the best possible way. This step fits perfectly in the strategy of Vion to strengthen its Beef division” says Bernd Stange, Chief Operating Officer Beef.

BestHides will be fully consolidated by Vion starting 2018.
