Romania: Pork and poultry production increased in November 2025

Romania's meat production saw an upward trend for pork and poultry in November 2025, while cattle, sheep, and goat production declined compared to the same month in 2024, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

Romania: Pork and poultry production increased in November 2025

Compared to the previous month (October 2025), the number of slaughterings and carcass weight increased for pigs, but decreased for cattle, sheep, goats, and poultry.

Pork

In November 2025, 337,000 pigs were slaughtered, up from 333,000 in October 2025 and 312,000 in November 2024. Pork production totaled 31,189 tonnes, an increase over both the previous month (30,231 tonnes) and the same period last year (28,434 tonnes).

Sheep and Goats

The INS reports that 241,000 sheep and goats were slaughtered in November 2025, a significant drop from the 316,000 recorded in October 2025 and 313,000 in November 2024. Carcass weight in this sector decreased both month-on-month and year-on-year, with production reaching 3,554 tonnes (down from 4,578 tonnes in October 2025 and 4,557 tonnes in November 2024).

Poultry

Poultry production reached 52,592 tonnes in November 2025. While this represents a decrease from October 2025 (56,453 tonnes), it is a substantial increase compared to November 2024 (45,382 tonnes). A total of 31.255 million birds were slaughtered in November, down from 33.685 million in the previous month but up from 26.585 million in November 2024.

Beef

Beef production totaled 6,237 tonnes in November 2025, down from 6,540 tonnes in October 2025 and 6,639 tonnes in November 2024. The number of slaughtered cattle reached 38,000 head, compared to 40,000 in the previous month and 41,000 in the same month of the prior year.
